How to read the matrix

Each annual total is the sum of its 12 monthly figures. Working-day totals count Monday to Friday, minus full-day statewide public holidays. They include statewide actual, observed and additional dates. Regional or locality holidays, restricted-sector dates and part-day holidays are not deducted from a statewide total. Those dates can still affect the people, workplaces or localities they cover; they are simply not full-day statewide days off. Use the Working Days Calculator when you need a shorter date range or a total for a particular state.

Why monthly totals differ

National dates such as Easter affect several states at once, while state-specific dates and substitute arrangements move the difference into particular months. A regional show day can be important for an affected locality without changing the statewide total, so check the Public Holidays list for your location before planning leave or a deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Do the monthly totals add up to the annual total?

Yes. Every row is calculated month by month with the same production working-days calculation, and its annual total is the sum of those 12 figures.

Why is my local public holiday not deducted from the table?

The table is statewide. A regional or locality holiday is a holiday for people covered by it, but it is not deducted from a statewide total. The same approach excludes restricted-sector and part-day dates.

What counts as a working day here?

Monday to Friday, minus full-day statewide actual, observed and additional public holidays.
