26 days until the 2026 VCE written exam period

The 2026 VCE exam timetable is set. Written exams run from Tuesday 27 October to Wednesday 18 November 2026, and results with the ATAR follow on Thursday 10 December. The GAT is already behind this cohort, having been sat on Tuesday 16 June.
When the 2026 VCE exams start and finish
Written exams open on Tuesday 27 October 2026 and close on Wednesday 18 November, when Japanese Second Language sits in the morning and Chinese Second Language in the afternoon. That's 23 days end to end, starting the day after the oral and performance block finishes.
Morning sessions start at 9:00am. Afternoon sessions usually start at 3:00pm, but five dates run a shorter day with a 2:00pm afternoon start: Friday 30 October, Monday 2 November, Tuesday 10 November, Thursday 12 November and Wednesday 18 November, per the VCAA timetable.

The exams that sit outside the written block
The GAT ran on Tuesday 16 June 2026, with Section A from 9:00am and Section B from 1:15pm. It sits months ahead of the written exams, so by late October it is well behind students for the year.
Oral and performance exams run Monday 5 October to Monday 26 October, finishing the day before the written block opens. Music performance exams run longer, through to Sunday 1 November, overlapping the first few written days.
Two more fall outside the block. Extended Investigation oral presentations run Monday 12 to Friday 23 October, and the CCAFL and Auslan written exams sit on Thursday 15 October.
Where the written block sits in Victoria's Term 4
Victoria's Term 4 2026 runs Monday 5 October to Friday 18 December. Oral and performance exams begin on the first day of term, and the written block sits in the middle, finishing a month before the term ends.
There's no statewide last day of Year 12 classes. Each school sets its own, depending on how it times revision and study days ahead of 27 October, so check your school's calendar rather than a general guide. See VIC school term dates for the full term structure and the Melbourne Cup Day page for the holiday itself.
Results, the ATAR and the offer rounds
Results and the ATAR go online from 7:00am on Thursday 10 December 2026, about three weeks after the last written exam. VTAC issues the digital ATAR statement five days later, on Tuesday 15 December.
Offers follow quickly. The December round lands on Wednesday 23 December 2026 and January round 1 on Tuesday 12 January 2027, which is why the summer break is a working one for anyone weighing up a preference change.
How to plan around the exam period
- Check your own subjects against VCAA's timetable for each exam's date and session time.
- Read the live count at the top of this page for days until the written block, or put any other date into the Date Calculator.
- Note Tuesday 3 November as a public holiday with no exams. Transport and shops run to holiday hours even though the exam period is under way.
- Mark Thursday 10 December for results, then check the VIC calendar for what else falls that week.
