Simple Calendar brings public holidays, school terms and planning tools together for every Australian state and territory. It is an independent website, with no government affiliation or endorsement. Questions and corrections reach the Simple Calendar team through our contact page.

Where the dates come from

Public holiday dates come from state and territory government calendars, gazettes and official datasets. School term dates come from government education departments. Our records retain the source link, date retrieved and, where recorded, date checked.

A “Checked” date describes a recorded check against that source. A “Retrieved” date means the source was collected on that date. Published dates can subsequently change, so follow the source link to confirm its latest information.

What the labels mean

Estimated dates

Some future public holidays are calculated from established calendar rules before a complete official schedule is available. Estimates can change and may omit local or schedule-dependent holidays.

Incomplete calendars

A year can contain published dates while another holiday is still awaiting an announcement. We identify known gaps rather than treating the calendar as complete.

Statewide, regional and part-day holidays

The homepage’s next-holiday answer uses statewide full-day holidays. Regional dates apply only to the named area; part-day holidays begin at the time shown. Industry-specific holidays do not mean everyone has the day off.

School holidays

School breaks are derived from the published term boundaries. Government-school dates may differ from private or independent schools. The NSW homepage preview uses the Eastern Division. Check your school for pupil-free days and attendance arrangements.

How planning figures are calculated

Working-day totals use Monday to Friday and exclude statewide full-day public holidays. Long-weekend previews assume the same working week. Your roster or local holidays may change your available days off.

Holiday comparison totals count declared holiday dates, including weekend, additional and part-day dates where listed. They represent calendar entries, rather than an equal number of full working days off. Today’s date follows the selected state’s Australian time zone; the nationwide next-holiday view uses Sydney time.

Send the page address, state or territory, date in question and a link to the official source. That gives us the information needed to investigate and correct the calendar.
