K means Kindergarten. On these dates, students in the listed year levels and regions do not attend while staff undertake professional learning. This is DECYP's centrally published list; your school confirms its full attendance calendar.

When do K–10 students return for Term 3?

Under the published calendar, K–10 students return on Tuesday 20 July. Term 3's official boundary is Monday 19 July, but that Monday is pupil-free for K–10 statewide. Confirm your child's return date with the school.

The Tasmania 2027 calendar shows the term boundary and pupil-free day together. Keep the Monday in your care planning even though it sits outside the published school-holiday break.

Check your school's region and any other dates

DECYP labels the October dates North and South. Confirm your school's date if its region is unclear.

Ask for your school's attendance calendar, including any moderation or other pupil-free dates. DECYP also mentions a moderation day, but its professional-learning table does not establish a complete calendar for each school. Confirm care availability and bookings separately with your provider.

Frequently asked questions

Does every Tasmanian student have four pupil-free days in 2027?

No. The table has four published dates, but July and October apply only to K–10, and the October dates are regional. Your school's calendar confirms the dates that apply to your child and any other pupil-free days.

Which October date applies to North-West Tasmania?

Ask your school which October date it uses. DECYP's term-dates page labels the regions North and South without defining which schools fall into each region.

Are these dates the same for Catholic and independent schools?

They may differ. This table covers Tasmanian government schools; use your Catholic or independent school's own attendance calendar.
