Queensland lists 6 staff professional development days for state schools in 2027. Only Friday 3 September 2027 falls inside a student term; the other 5 are during school holidays.

The January and April dates fall within existing student holidays. They do not add extra days to those breaks.

Friday 3 September is the day to plan for
It falls inside Term 3, which runs from Monday 12 July to Friday 17 September. That makes it an ordinary school week with one day where students stay home, not the start of the spring break.
Ask your outside-school-hours care service whether it opens that day, what hours it offers and whether you need a separate booking.
Student return dates after the January and April breaks
Students start Term 1 on Wednesday 27 January and Term 2 on Monday 12 April. The 5 earlier development days all sit before those dates, in breaks you have already planned around.

A pupil-free day is not a public holiday
A staff development day does not itself create a public holiday. These dates don't reduce the statewide working-day totals in our Working Days Calculator, and they sit apart from QLD public holidays in 2027 and from the regional show holidays.
